Unknown Voices is a Women's Radio Group project
in association with Crisis and with
Exciting Writing teacher Paddy Gormley. The project is funded by
GLE Fast
Forward.
OVERVIEW
The project, called Unknown Voices, had two main objectives. One was to involve 10 women who have experienced homelessness in a training programme where they learnt how to record and edit their own and other people's stories.
Training covered:

Digital editing and recording

Presentation and Interviewing techniques

Computer skills
-
Work Experience
collecting further stories
Everyone taking part in the programme received a CD player containing a CD of their personal story. The benefits to
trainees were as follows:

awareness of the issues faced by other disadvantaged people and strategies for dealing with them,
-
recordings of their respective stories for sharing with family and friends,
-
recordings of others voices made/edited by them, as clear evidence for potential employers
-
work experience
