WOMEN'S RADIO GROUP
ORGANISATIONS PROVIDING TRAINING AND CAREER ADVICE

We are often asked for advice on where to look for career advice and training in radio.  Here are some leads to help you.  (Please note that Women's Radio Group is not responsible for the content of other websites and does not endorse any particular provider or course.)

Industry bodies 
Some of these are policy makers, others offer career and/or training advice 

  • BECTU - specialist trade union for the media industry 
  • Broadcast Journalism Training Council - helps colleges provide the best possible courses for the training of radio, television and on-line journalists
  • Community Media Association - also run short courses and workshops for community groups and individuals, including in radio production
  • Ofcom - the regulating organisation for the whole of the broadcasting industry
  • The Radio Academy - Professional association for people working in radio in the UK - runs regular Masterclasses and networking events
  • Skillset - the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual industries (broadcast, film, video, interactive media and photo imaging)
  • Skillset Careers - (was Skillsformedia - a partnership between Skillset and BECTU) - professional careers advice for anyone trying to get in or get on in the media
