Refugee Week Radio 2006

Refugee Week is a UK wide festival which celebrates the contribution made by refugees to UK life and promotes understanding of why people become refugees.  Every year hundreds of arts, cultural and educational events are organised across the UK.

Women's Radio Group is pleased to be one of the major partners in Refugee Week Radio (with London Link Radio). Refugee Week Radio is an online broadcasting and training project which has been endorsed by the Refugee Week steering committee.

Refugee Week will take place this year from the 19th to the 25th June.  Before and during the week, volunteers and trainees from Refugee Week Radio will preview and report on as many events as possible.

Throughout the Spring, there will also be training in different aspects of radio production for individual volunteers and refugee groups, including in interviewing and small scale production (using mini disk recorders), reporting arts and cultural events for radio - before and during the events (features, interviews, what's on guides, critical discussions and reviews, new music etc) and planning and making community radio programmes.
