imMEDIAte
- Training Women in Media - Learning Partnership
Women's Radio Group is one
of the partners in imMEDIAte - Training Women in Media, a
transnational Learning Partnership funded under the Grundtvig
programme. The partnership runs for 2 years, until 2009.
The
Partnership focuses on new approaches in adult education towards training
socially and educationally disadvantaged women for media work. The
combination of organisations of adult education, women in journalism and
community media organisations from Europe will provide a range of methods
and comparison between the different approaches. Given the diverse
backgrounds of the participating organisations, learners will have the
opportunity to compare and to try out ways of creating media and thus
acquiring basic and transferable skills.
The central questions will
be:
~ How can disadvantaged women benefit from being trained in media?
~ Can media training on both the technical and the journalistic level
equip them with the necessary basic and transferable skills, as well as
with the experience of self-empowerment at the successful completion of
the training?
The key approach will be
integrative and based on participation and empowerment, which has been
shown to work well with socially disadvantaged groups.
