‘PEARLS’
Free Radio Presentation and Production Course
The September-December course is currently
taking place. The next course, starting in January 2010, will be
publicised here. Details will be similar to those shown below.
- Three days each week for twelve weeks, with a week's
break in the middle
- Delivered by Women’s Radio Group in training
studios at Desi Radio, 4 Sussex Road, Southall, Middlesex UB2
5EG
- Training leads to Open College Network accredited
qualifications, work experience and assistance in job search

Course dates/times:
to follow (12 taught weeks + a one-week break midway through)
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 11.00 am – 4.00pm
Selection interviews: dates to be notified to applicants
Training covers:
- Digital editing and recording
- Presentation and Interviewing techniques
- How to use a radio desk
- Making radio commercials, jingles and Public Service
Announcements
- News reading and writing
- Participating in Internet broadcasts and showcases
- Computer and ICT skills
- Support with English language (if required)
- Assistance with travel costs (if required)
- Assistance with childcare costs (if required)
Eligibility for places:
If you are a woman and meet one or more of the following
criteria you may be offered a place.
- Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic origins
- Single parent
- Over 40 years’ old
- Have a disability
- Not in full time employment
- Live in West London
- Returner to work
